How did the benchmark transaction work in light of the headlines?
Martin Schmid
Münchener Hypothekenbank
We are extremely satisfied with the transaction. With a seven-year maturity and an attractive spread, we succeeded in generating very high investor demand from Germany and abroad.Due to the uncertain geopolitical environment, we decided to execute the transaction on the same day in order to be able to respond better to market sentiment. However, there was a great deal of nervousness on Monday morning: the price of gold plummeted, silver lost significant value, and tech stocks also came under pressure. We therefore deliberately postponed our decision and announced the transaction later on the day than planned. In hindsight, this was the right thing to do, as the markets calmed down and began to ease in the meanwhile.Overall, it was a very successful transaction, which also “opened doors” for other issuers in the days thereafter.

What are the characteristics of the bank's cover pool?
Martin Schmid
Münchener Hypothekenbank
We are the specialist for long-term real estate financing in the cooperative financial network. Our portfolio primarily focuses on financing private residential real property. For this reason, the cover pool consists mainly of private residential mortgages. Thanks to our strong partnerships in Switzerland, we also have Swiss residential real estate in our cover pool. These are supplemented by commercial property mortgage loans and bonds from public-sector borrowers.

Last year, MHB issued exactly one large-volume Mortgage Pfandbrief. What else can investors expect from MHB in the current year?
Martin Schmid
Münchener Hypothekenbank
Mortgage Pfandbriefe are and will remain our most important source of refinancing. Münchener Hypothekenbank plans to issue a total of around EUR 2.0 billion in benchmark Pfandbriefe in 2026. These are expected to be spread across two to three issues in Euro benchmark format and several issues in Swiss francs.
